Introduction
Preben Bjerregaard MD and his colleagues at Saint Louis University Hospital, Saint Louis Missouri, USA were the first to discover Short QT Syndrome in 1999. Their discovery prompted research by colleagues especially in Europe, Asia and in the US. Their collective work ever since then has led to our current understanding of its hereditary features, clinical manifestations and treatment options.
Short QT Syndrome (SQTS) is a very rare heart disease. Most of the public has probably never heard about it and there are still a great number of physicians who have only limited knowledge about it.
